Hi, thanks for your enquiry. Sure, any age can play this... but with an 11 year old boy, it might be better to plan ahead a little and spend an extra hundred to buy him a full size folk guitar (not that big, but not as compact - it might inspire him more in the long run. The half size guitars are great, I play one and take it camping/on holiday with me, but you know what young boys are like... :) Kind regards, F
