The Opal is known as the chameleon of a thousand colours, essence of every gem distilled into one, shimmering stone of love and hope, a gift delivered from heaven in bolts of lightning.
Louis Leakey uncovered the earliest known opal artifacts in a cave in Kenya. Dating back to about 4000 B.C, they most likely came from Ethiopia. Opal is derived from the Sanskrit word "upala", meaning "valuable stone". This is believed to be the root word for the Greek term "opallios", which translates as "color change". The Opal is our most treasured and respected gem of all gemstones. There are no two alike. Not in looks, not in colour, not in cutting or in the photographing these beautiful gems. It is an absolute privilege to be able to work with these fine treasures.
