Antique German adjustable Hanging Lamp 1885-1895

On offer is this exceptional early German 'Regenerativ Blitz Lampe' which must date back to around the 1880's to 1895 era. I have not been able to trace the makers but this is the largest oil lamp I have come across, the glass lamp shade itself measuring 40cm across. A superb structure of cast-iron and then hand decorated, this lamp has been converted to electricity, but, formerly, would have operated on paraffin. The Germans had the upper-hand for intricate castings as their iron ore contained a large percentage of manganese which allowed the cast-iron to 'flow' easily. Each 'arm' of the lamp is comprised of three separate pieces which were then assembled.

The lamp shade, a translucent white glass, is not perfectly round, and measures somewhere between 40 cm to nearly 42cm.  I cannot quite make out if this was a molded shade or not. It looks like it has been hand-blown and shaped to some extent whilst hot as there are obvious marks around the lower rim. Be careful when fitting the lamp shade, because, being slightly 'oval' it needs to be placed in its cradle where it fits best.

This is a LARGE lamp, it needs a high ceiling for hanging. The lamp measures 1.40 metre minimum height and is adjustable for cleaning, and, in the old days, to replenish the paraffin.

The lamp has been renovated, there was some damage to the 'arms' where they were fitted to the inner rim and this was professionally mended and the lamp  re-decorated by hand as to what it should have looked like.

The large glass lamp-shade is original and, apart from some very tiny marks to the upper rim, remains in very good condition.  The clear glass chimney was missing but has been replaced by another, genuine chimney.

Please note, I am NOT a qualified archaeologist/antiquarian and the description I have given is based on research of the subject.

This is a genuine antique. Please remember the classification of an 'antique' is that it should be 100 years old, OR MORE. There are many articles being offered as 'antiques' when, clearly, they are not.
