These coins are from the President Burgers era in the same time frame when the extremely rare Burgers Pond Coarse and Fine Beard variety were minted. This would have been the first coinage of the ZAR but due to the controversy surrounding the Burgers Pond, never materialised until 1892. Indeed a very rare pair.
