1901 Boer War Letter (Umtata, Cape Colony) + 10 Boer War Stamps + Free Insured Postage

A Boer War Letter and Cover (with rare Umtata Post Mark) from a British Soldier in the Cape Mounted Rifles, stationed at Umtata, Cape Colony, dated 5 April 1901.

The Letter is 2 pages long, and the content is as follows:

Dear G.
Today I believe is your birthday, so I am writing to wish you many happy returns and also to thank you for your letter received this morning
I am glad to see you are taking care of my property viz photos of my 'dreams' & 'the lump of sugar one' sorry to hear that the cello is not being touched truly doubt you take it up?
Surely you are big enough by now! I am sending the water by this post & photo of myself taken in khaki but of course the London perfection is not obtainable in Umtata.
Tell the girls I am sending them one each when they are finished.
The weather here now has taken a very hot turn last week being dull & yesterday and the day before it rained like blazes!
Well G. there is very little news to tell you time we are having a 'gaff' down town next week & I will send a programme home as soon as it comes off.
On Tuesday we are having some sports, Pony racing, hurdles jumps etc. So we shallbe going very strong on that day.
How's the business going? Hope you are sticking well to your word & making a bit of 'oof' very sorry to hear you have had a bad cold, but hope it is alright by now.
Don't be afraid of writing to me whenever you feel inclined.
I am always glad to get anything in the shape of news, letters or papers of any sort, so if you spot a paper which you think I would like, send it along & you will earn my best thanks.
Now so long, must dry up as there is nothing more to tell you, with love to all your affec.
Bro. Stan
