Royal Visit Commemorative

Set Of Queen Elizabeth II Struck By the SA MINT

Enquiries at the SA MINT could not determine how many sets were struck, but the general consensus is that it was only a few. The RARE Gold Sovereign that was included in this set has been also been graded by SANGS to preserve it. The rest of the set consists of a SA Penny and SA Half Penny of 1960 in Brilliant UNC condition, a SA Half Crown and Crown of 1958 and Two Commemorative Crowns struck in Proof Condition with the wording "Queen Elizabeth II Royal Visit to South Africa 1947-1955"

MORE ABOUT THE ABOVE 1995 GOLD SOVEREIGN

Is this The Republic of South Africa's RAREST GOLD COIN? The 1995 SA Mint-marked Gold Sovereign
not recorded by Hern, but officially struck by the South African Mint for the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to South Africa in 1995. According to a discussion a few years back on the BidorBuy coin forum, only a handful are known and this one is probably the first to be graded.
Struck in 22 carat gold and weighing 7.988 grams. Graded Proof 66.
Please see the above and below pictures and note the official SA Mint-mark (SA) to the right of the date on the reverse.

PLEASE NOTE: Above pictures are of actual coins
