2014 Set of Zimbabwe Bond Coins
Mintage: Unknown
The loss of Zimbabwean Currency has lasted 11 years (2003-2014) and as is well known, the US Dollar has been used as a replacement along with the SA Rand and British Pound.
Unsurprisingly the strength of the US Dollar was such that smaller denominations were in dire need.
As an answer, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) with help from the SA Mint has had smaller denominations minted as fractions of the USD.
This procedure is NOT unique to the world of Numismatics where the top currency unit comes from outside a country. They may well be classed as Tokens in the future. The countries that have done the same are Panama , Ecuador and East Timor where smaller denomination coins have also been minted for the same reason.
Highly collectible and scarce outside of Zimbabwe. The one cent apears to be especially scarce (my view).
The 50c and 25c are Nickel, the 10c and 5c Brass and the One cent Copper.
All the coins carry the letters RBZ in the inner field stamped diagonally and repeatedly.
The coins are all new and lustrous with identical Obverses(date side)
