The most eye-catching aspect of this lovely vintage ring from England is the iridescence of the opals. The fire within them is remarkable - iridescent with a strong blue quality that complements the dark blue of the sapphires. The ring is set with 3 round-cut dark blue sapphires in a row across the width of the ring, with the larger sapphire surrounded by 6 round-cut opals, almost flower-like in design. The startling colour contrast between the dark blue of the sapphires and the bright fiery opals is accentuated by the yellow of the gold claws. The ring head is joined to the shank by decorative curlicues on the shoulders. The pedigree is evident in the '375' for 9ct gold, the jeweller's signature, and the Birmingham assay. A good weight at 2,2 grams, this feminine ring is a delight on the hand.
