 Scarce medallion struck in silver, obverse the same as the Kruger halfcrowns 1892-1897.

 NGC graded and authenticated.

Issued to celebrate the official opening of this railway on 8-10 July 1895,

Although the railway was operational from the beginning of the year. It is recorded that these pieces were given to everyone who had been invited to the festivities and was used as an "entrance ticket" to the luncheon. Others say that it was presented at the official Mint visit on 10/7/1895.

Two varieties are known, on the reverse, Type 1 the date is between P & E. Type 2 the date is between S & N of the "Spoorweg Feesten"

Commonley referred to as the Feesten Medal

Mintage: 1000.

Value: Catalogued at R2000.
