The main image in this listing is of the cover of the book "Children of the mist" the story of the Griqua people published in 2006. This book was published after 30 years of research and is now adopted by the Griqua as their official history. That is called research.
Our study in this listing is on two recent badly flawed PDFs, claimed to be "research", that have been released by Pierre Henri Nortje recently here on BoB.
I find it interesting how Pierre Henri Nortje is very selective about what he publishes to suit his predetermined outcome in his "research".
A classic example is in his recent PDF "research" sold here on the Strachan and Co token coins suggesting there is no proof that they circulated before 1907. He quotes Milner Snell widely in this book (more below). In an early page in this PDF, with an image of the S&Co tokens, Nortje selectively takes only a small part of the diary note by Douglas Strachan deliberately leaving out the most important part. In fact what he has deliberately deleted from the balance of that line is the key comment by Douglas Strachan, son of the store's founder Donald Strachan that destroys his argument: "This was soon replaced by the tokens showing values and the name "S&Co".
Why did he delete that from the rest of the line in the extract from Douglas Strachan's diary note in his "research" on the Strachan and Co? I will let you form your own conclusions about that.
Here is the extract Nortje publishes in his PDF on the S&Co being sold here:
Here is the same extract of the diary note published on page nine of "Kence, the trade tokens of Strachan and Co" published in 1978 where Nortje got this information (You can buy a PDF copy of "Kence" from an independent and highly respected seller here for just R20):
Do you see what he deletes from the scan in his PDF on the Strachan and Co? It is not rocket science. This is not research, I can think of a better name but I won't say it here.
This deliberately deleted line serves one purpose - to support his assertion that the S&Co did not circulate before the 1900s. He also ignores the Standard Bank's 125th Anniversary PDF where they state that the Strachan coins were the currency used in Kokstad when they first opened a branch there in 1878.
What does Milner Snell, who Nortje widely quotes in his PDF, have to say about this subject in March this year?

Hello Scott
Thanks for a copy of your rebuttle to Nortje regarding the Griquatown tokens. It is not an area I know much about and I must be honest have not kept in touch with the debates surrounding the Griquatown coins. I am busy with reports at the moment but as soon as they are finished will read your article. As for Strachan & Co., I think Douglas Strachan's note can not be ignored. We might not be able to pin point and exact date but it was definitely before 1907. I am sure it is the 1870s.
Regards
Milner
To find out more examples of Nortje's selective research in this PDF simply Google: Strachan and Co and token coins
What are you buying for just R1?
A copy of the information carried by Pierre Henri Nortje in his earlier PDF originally published here on BoB on the Griquatown tokens and my response to his "award winning research" (in blue).
In this PDF you will see proof that Nortje has been caught out plagiarising my research (cutting and pasting from my website) then claiming it as his own by giving Schoeman's book as his source.
Nortje has not and cannot deny this. This is not research.
Just like the selective deletion by Nortje shown in the screen dumps above this is something very different to research - I will let you pick the word.
There is no postage cost.
Simply buy a copy and I will email my response to Nortje's PDF on the Griquatown tokens
