Union Of South Africa, 1949, half d, dull charcoal black & grey green, December 1949 issue. The 1st stamp on the sheet is in English meaning the last stamp is Afrikaans, Plate Number 21. The size of the stamp is 18 by 22 mm. Printed on sheets of 20 by 12. Bottom right corner margin, horizontal pair, with green cylinder number 11B printed on right margin - with no variety on the last stamp. The centre of the stamp is rough (not glossy). Overprint OFFICIAL type 7 written down with 10mm apart of 1950-1954 type issue.

The stamps have been stuck on a first day cover, Kirstenbosch International Flora 1963 with special cancellation 18/21-5-1966 of the Republic Festival Philatelic Exhibition. In superb condition.

This is not the item listed in 2009 SACC as Number 24c, August 1947 issue. Reasons why:

1 The lettering of the overprint is completely defferent

Thanks for looking. Please click on my name to view other items I am selling.

I have included the entire page of SACC 2008/2009, the other two pages are from Specialised Handbook Catalogue of Union Of South Africa.

As can clearly be seen this stamp, 1949 charcoal, has not being used with this particular overprint. As can also be seen from the Handbook catalogue this stamp is indeed 44Ha.

According to me, this stamp is unique as it has not been catalogued therefore this is the price I am willing to sell this item, of course there may be other copies hidden somewhere which is why I have a question mark on my ad.............notwithstanding due to the scarcity of this item this is my selling price.
