A 6 pence stamp of Queen Victoria issued by Tasmania, Australia, between 1858 and 1867. This stamp was issued imperforate, with a watermark 6 on the back to correspond to the value of the stamp. I would say the colour is either dull lilac or grey-violet.
It is in all round good condition, with no issues to the edges except that it is slightly close-cut at the bottom. A nice clear bar cancel. I have not washed this stamp, and there is a partial hinge at the back which accounts for the yellowish marks in the second photo. All in all this is a lovely example of this stamp and well worth the purchase price at a fraction of catalogue value, which is between R1125 and R1275.
