Common Names: Rhodesian teak, African Rosewood, Large False Mopane Guibourtia is a flowering plant genus in the family Fabaceae (legume family). It contains 16 species, native to tropical regions of Africa and South America. They occur in swampy or periodically inundated forests, as well as near rivers or at lakeshores. They are evergreen trees growing to 40–50 m tall, with a trunk diameter of 1–2 m, often with a heavily buttressed trunk. Guibourtia coleosperma or Large false Mopani as it is commonly known is a rounded tree 6-20m in height with pinkish cream bark and dark glossy leaves. From summer to autumn this tree puts on a profuse display of small creamy-white star-shaped flowers. These are followed by edible fruits.
