Drosera Capensis Alba is an all green tentacle-forming sundew from the Cape region. It is a varient of the more common Drosera Capensis Typical. This is a perennial sundew growing right throughout the year, producing strap-like leaves up to 7cm long, which as in all carnivorous sundews secretes a sticky mucilage, which traps unsuspecting insects to supply nutrition to the plant.
When insects are first trapped the leaves roll length-wise towards the centre, enfolding the victim to bring it closer to the digestive glands of the carnivorous plant, aiding in a speedy digestive process.
Drosera Capensis can flower right throughout summer when cultivation methods are correct. Although this varient produces green leaves and a white flower it cannot be considered an anthocyanin free plant as some slight pink colour can be produced under very bright lighting conditions.
