Hi there, the time has come to part with my amazing brass ships compass. I simply not getting around to repairing it, the compass needs the fluid replacing. The compass glass needed replacing and I have not got around to replacing the fluid, but the glass has been replaced.
This compass is simply incredible,it is solid brass, and with a bit of brasso could really shine up,it is gimballed and comes in a custom box, which allows it hang suspended. The bottom of the box has a bit of damp issues. The compass weighs a ton and I have put a 30cm ruler in one of the pictures to give you an idea of the size. Pricing such an item is difficult because they are so collectible and unique, but I have seen similar compasses (with fluid) go for R50000 plus on Ebay!
