MAGNIFICENT LARGE IRON CARPET OF PERSIA HAND KNOTTED INDESTRUCTABLE BIDJAR CARPET REPETITIVE HERATI

COLLECTION IN THE FOURWAYS JO'BURG AREA. HEAVY!

This is an amazing piece. The indestructible, durable, incredibly

strong Bidjar or Bijar, the iron carpet of Persia. I believe woven

by men because of the knotting technique used & heavy iron comb

which results in a very compact carpet. The pile stands at 90 degrees

making it incredibly durable and will last for generations. Due to it's

compactness it is also a carpet that can be used in hotel entrances

as it does not allow much dirt through the pile. They say practically

indestructible. This is a large piece and is very heavy. It has the

repetitive Herati design which is common for the Bijar.  It is hard to

let this one go. I can see no issues with it (although as with all others

I always think a professional cleaning never hurts).

The colour palette on this piece is also out of this world. Wow is

all I can say!!! . It measures with fringes approximately length 305cm

by 200 cm width.  Please view the photographs to delight in it.

The Herati design is a flower centred in a diamond with curving

lanceolate of leaves located outside the diamond & parallel to

each side. There are many versions of the design
