The volumes were designed to be a contemporary history of World War Two, narrating all the factors that led up to the declaration of war on 3rd September 1939 and to provide the first authoritative history of the Second World War and to provide one of the finest graphic representations of the historic events. There are no dates but the final volume (9) has an epilogue on the last page dated 1946.

Bound in red cloth with gilt writing to spine. Covers are faded with age and with rubbing to edges. Shelf-worn and edge-worn. Pages are generally in a good, clean condition. Age toning and foxing, dust stains, however overall very good, clean and tightly bound.
