Hi there. Any Apple Authorized Distributer or service center is obligated by Apple take in and honor warranties of any Apple product. Its part of their agreements. However, because the iPad is currently not available in South Africa, it is true that they do not have the trained technicians to deal with iPad related issues as yet. So if something warranty related comes up with your iPad while Apple SA does not officially carry, I will have to ship it back to the US for service, as long as the customer pays for return shipping. When it does officially hit SA, you will be able to get service at any apple distributor.
