A most rare 10 lire Second World War Military banknote issued by "Military Authority in Tripolitania" signed by SA soldiers in North Africa

My uncle, Staff Sgt MC Bury, served as a transport driver with the South African forces fighting in North Africa during the Second World War. As such he was often at the scenes of battles and returned with much war memorabilia, including this rare 10 lire banknote which is, understandably, in a much used condition, stained and creased, as shown in the photos.

The banknotes were issued by the British Army in 1943 during the advance into Tripolitania, Libya in North Africa.

Most unusually and no doubt in triumph at having acquired the banknote, Staff Sgt Bury got his South African Army comrades to sign the obverse side of the note (see photos). They were: GH Fisher, WB Botha, B Seymour, Bill Brown, H Foxcroft, T Bell and one further I cannot decipher.

The banknote is being offered for auction on its own and does not include the photo of Staff Sgt Bury nor his Military Driving Licence which will be offered at auction at a later date. They are photographed here for authentification purposes.
