The "Black Hills" jewellery lines are different and very collectable. It is a range of jewellery created specifically in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. Black Hills rises within the Great Plains of North America. It founds its way into history after gold was found there in 1874. To bear the name "Black Hills" it has to be created there. The designs tend to be grape clusters, vine leaves and grape stems. The distinctive and unusual colours are created when they alloy sterling silver with yellow gold. The rose colours is when copper is alloyed with the yellow gold. The jewellers in Black Hills still make use of many traditional handcraft processes - such as the creation of pattern and relief detail -something they have been doing for over 100 years. This ring has all three colours. The sterling silver frame is raised quite high around the ring head creating nice dimension. The silver is sterling, the gold is 12k and the rose colour is gold that has been alloyed with copper. It remains sought after in America and hard to get in vintage pieces! This "Black Hills" ring is a solid 5,3 grams. It is rather special!
