This incredibly rare antique victorian "Newman Bros." high back parlor reed organ is in great condition considering its age. The Newman Brothers Piano and Organ Company was established in 1881 by John, Gustav R. and Charles W. Newman. Their capacity in 1902 was 4,000 organs per year and were in business at least through 1920. Newman Brothers were known for building very expensive, elaborate pianos & organs, and they were very successful. No self-respecting Victorian parlor would be complete without the presence of the family's stylish parlor organ. It was a sign of culture in the Victorian home. There are 12 stop knob functions on the organ and it has bakelite keys. The organ also features a mirror and stunning relief detailing. The skill and craftsmanship that went into making this organ is evident in its magnificence. The organ needs a service as it is not currently in working condition. The organ measures 119cm long x 58cm wide x 195cm high. There is age and usage related wear and tear but nothing a little TLC can't fix right up. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this truly stunning Victorian parlor organ and to confirm the condition.
