This one-of-a-kind antique hallmarked solid silver tray was awarded to Sir Everard Duncan Home Fraser Esquire C.M.G by the British residents at Hankow, Hanyang & Wuchang as a mark of personal esteem and regard and in recognition of the valuable services rendered by him to the Community during his tenure of office as H.M. Consul-General at Hankow; January 1900 – January 1911. (The Provenance documents accompany the tray). Sir Everard Fraser was Consul-General for Great Britain at Shanghai. Sir Everard Fraser was Knighted by King Edward VII as Knight Commander, Third Class and then later further Knighthood advancements were made by King George V as Knight Commander Second Class and appointed as Consul-General of Shanghai by King George V. The signed Royal Provenance documentation accompanies the tray.

The hallmarks on the tray consist of the "Crown" city mark confirming the tray was made in Sheffield, the Lion Passant confirming it is British sterling silver (925) and the letter "S" confirming it was made in 1910. The makers stamp (assay) confirms the tray was made by Elkington & Co. Silversmiths of Sheffield. The tray measures an astounding 62cm long x 45cm wide (73.5cm handle to handle) and weighs in at an astonishing 4.835kg. There are minor/ normal scuffs associated with a serving tray. Trays such as this one are extremely rare, especially in this weight category and this condition and is political and British Monarchy affiliations.
