A Rhodesian Policeman's war, 1971-1982 by David Lemon. The author served with Rhodesia's elite British South Africa Police (BSAP) during the Bush War days. The war throughout the country escalated and indiscriminate acts of terror decided him to join the elite Police Support Unit which comprised 12 companies of fighting policemen, most of them black. The Black Boots as they were known, were as smart as the Brigade of Guards on parade, and as fighting men they matched or surpassed any elite fighting unit anywhere in the world. Following independence and large-scale atrocities committed by the 5th Brigade against perceived dissidents of the new order, Lemon eventually resigned from the police and left Zimbabwe. First softcover edition published by Galago, 2006. 264 pages with index. Illustrated with many colour and b/w photographs. Not to be confused with the later reprint, this is become an increasingly scarce edition. Tracked postage is R50.00.
