This biscuit barrel was produced by SF&Co. (Fielding) in Stoke-on-Trent, England, in the RIGA pattern and marked “Crown Devon” X872. The mark on this item dates it to between 1913 and 1917. Measures 15.5cm to top of the rim. The rim, handle and lid are silver plated. There is slight tarnish on the lid (more on the underside of the lid than anywhere else), otherwise no damage at all to this gorgeous old item. Lovely embossed detail, with painted poppies and gold trim, and a satiny touch. Truly antique in look and age and items from these potters in that period seem quite scarce.
