This exquisite Japanese "Dragonware" Moriage porcelain tea trio includes the tea cup, saucer and the cake plate. The stunning set features entirely handcrafted and hand painted Moriage porcelain and is impressive having a 3-d effect with raised areas and gilded rims. The set measures as follows: the teacup is 11.8cm long (edge to handle) x 8.9cm wide x 6.6cm high, the saucer is 14cm across and the cake plate is 18.3cm across. The stunning electric blue of the porcelain is completely complimented by the finery of the Moriage detailing.  There are no visible chips or cracks in the set. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this stunning Dragonware porcelain trio and to confirm the condition.

From the internet: "Moriage is a special type of raised decoration used on some Japanese pottery. Sometimes pieces of clay were shaped by hand and applied to the item; sometimes the clay was squeezed from a tube in the way we apply cake frosting. One type of Moriage is called Dragonware by collectors."
