This spectacular and rare antique (c1930) Roy Cousin & Co. mantle clock with a German-made Gustav Becker mechanism has the original key and is a stunning and very exciting find. The clock was produced by "Roy Cousin & Co." of Calcutta, India, which was a British colony in the 1930's. Gustav Becker clocks are world-renowned for their awesome mechanisms and stylish period designs; they are rated as some of the best clocks in the world. The clock was "Presented to C.S.M C.M. Estall, M.C. by the Officers, N.C.O.'s and Men of "B" Company, 1st Battalion, The Surrey Regiment, October 1930".
From the internet "CSM C.M. Estall, won the Military Cross during the 1914-18 War as a Warrant Officer. His medals and sword are held in the Museum at Clandon. Later in the thirties he was the Garrison Sergeant Major in Hong Kong.
This amazing clock measures 21cm long x 18cm wide x 30cm high. This clock would look stunning above a fire place or even just on an occasional table and would be a superb and unusual addition to a militaria collection.
