UNUSUAL VINTAGE STERLING SILVER AMETHYST AND DIAMOND NECKLACE
This very pretty necklace is vintage from England. Its quite unusual, featuring a solid bar around the central focus to which a separate chain and amethyst has been attached, creating a rather nice "t-shape" necklace. It is solid sterling silver - hallmarked - and finished in a gold hue. The solid part of the pendant features a round cut claw set purple amethyst cupped within two diamond-accented arms that curve upwards, narrowing to touch above it, before flaring outwards like wings. A second pair of joined 'wings' curves around the base of the amethyst, leaving openwork above and on both sides, then follows the curves of the gemstone studded 'wings'. Suspended below the pendant are another three round cut amethysts - 2 small and 1 large - all claw set on cages that allow light to shine through the bottom, which accentuates the magnificent purples of the well faceted gemstones. The amethysts are chain linked, which allows for a lot of movement. The pendant is attached to a gold coloured (not 9ct) silver (solid sterling 925) chain - the total length stretched out is 42cm. The '925' hallmark indicating genuine sterling silver appears on both the pendant and the chain. Very pretty. Fun!
