There are three different gem varieties of chrysoberyl. Each of these stones is chemically alike, but optically very different, each one having a unique and beautiful feature of its own.
The yellow to yellow green variety of chrysoberyl comes from Brazil and was known as chrysolite. It was popular in Spanish and Portugese jewelry in the 18th and 19th centuries. This name is no longer used. This is typically the only variety traded as just 'chrysoberyl' and displays an exceptional brilliance.
This particular Chrysoberyl is beyond rare. It has been faceted around a beautiful, 100% Natural Rainbow Chrysoberyl Druzy. Man interferes so many times to get what this Chrysoberyl is offering up naturally. And the foresight and cutting of the Lapidarist was exceptional.
