This magnificent ornately decorated antique Victorian hallmarked sterling silver "James Dixon & Sons" boxed engraved fork and spoon set is in beautiful condition and the hallmarks on the set consist of the "Crown" city mark (Assay) confirming the set were made in Sheffield, the Lion Passant confirming the spoon and fork are British sterling silver (925) and the Gothic date letter "g" (on the fork) confirming its was made in 1899 and the letter "h" (on the spoon) confirms it was made in 1900. The makers stamp confirms the set was made by James Dixon and Sons Silversmiths of Sheffield. The combined weight of the fork and spoon is 69.81g. The spoon and fork are both engraved with the name "Denis" on the handles. There is absolute minimal/ normal wear and tear on the set, the velvet and satin lining of the box is also stunning and this looks like a set that was put in a drawer and forgotten.
