The sabre was made by the Enfield Royal Small Arms Factory in England . It has a Maltese Cross type Guard with some illegible marks.
It has seen serious duty as can be seen by the dents in the scabbard , a sharpened bladed and a repaired handle.
It has the following markings
1 Arrow above the EFD is a Government acceptance mark. The EFD is the Royal Arms Factory Enfield.
2 Crown over 30 E is the Enfield Royal Small Arms Factory inspection mark.
3. X is the bending mark proof of blade.
4. 97 is the date the sword was commissioned as opposed to it’s date of manufacture 90 on the back of the blade.
5. 98 is the date it was delivered from Enfield.
6. The crown over 44 and D are the Enfield repair workshop marks.(this I would assume is the handle repair)
The scabbard is a field scabbard with the date stamp of 1893 and some other numbers.

Scabbard weight - 708 grams
Blade length - 87.5cm
Sword length - 102cm
Blade is in an excellent condition -No chips -Guard and scabbard have light corrosion.
