About the Artist: MARIE-VERMEULEN BREEDT

Marie is a highly successful well known South African artist whose work is in constant demand.  She was born in 1954 in Pretoria and completed her B.A. Fine Art degree with distinction from the University of South Africa in 1977.  She also did a course on portraiture in 1976 at the Royal Academy in London.

She has a keen sense of line and colour and her paintings reflect a spirit of romanticism and through the use of light and shading, also some impressionism.  Her work is represented in collections all around the world (South Africa, England, European countries, USA and more).

Outside of her exhibitions, she also did commissions, and previous commissions included under more:

2005- Portraits for University of Pretoria, of OR Tambo, Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki

1997 – “Last day of Trading” for Johannesburg Stock Exchange, South Africa, Commissioned by Barnard, Jacobs, Mellet Stockbrokers.
