What's new

This Kindle is the brand new, WIFI only version, that was released on 28 September 2011. This is the first release of their new generation of Kindles. What most people want to know is what is the difference between this and the keyboard version (here). Well, besides the obvious missing keyboard, this new Kindle is much lighter, more compact and is the new entry level Kindle. Everything is the same as the Kindle 3 keyboard version except this version does NOT have any audio (not even an audio jack) so this means no text-to-audio functions and also no MP3 player. It also has half the size hard-drive which means you can only store up to 1400 books at a time (instead of 3000). Also remember this has no 3G because of it's size. But WIFI and USB work great for transferring books. Besides that everything else is the same as the keyboard version. :)

What does "special offers" mean?

 You'll receive special offers and sponsored screensavers directly on your Kindle. These can be turned off by paying $40 once the Kindle is registered. Examples of past special offers include:

Your offers display on your Kindle's screensaver and on the bottom of the home screen – they don't interrupt reading.
