By Joy Clark
Joy Clark was born in Namibia in 1958. She worked as a Lay-out Artist in various Printing companies, until she decided to set up her own Ceramic Studio which was very successful for 25 years. Her work was shown at Annual Exhibitions in Kwambonambi & Richards Bay & Durban, KZN. Throughout the years there has always been a keen interest in all art forms as well as Sewing, Bear-making & Quilting. She spent a few years teaching Bear-making Skills and Quilting and has won various prizes and awards in both fields.
After a series of Art Courses and Workshops and tremendous encouragement & support from various teachers Joy is now fully devoted to Painting. Her main medium is Oil paint, but she has experience with Watercolors and she enjoys Acrylics. She has partaken in a number of Group Exhibitions and has won a number of prizes in various shows held in Port Shepstone, on the Lower South Coast of KZN.
Painting is a continuous adventure in color and technique. Joy is influenced by the sound of the sea & beauty that surrounds her in Kini Bay in the Eastern Cape where she lives. She enjoys painting Still Life, Flower Studies, Landscape, Seascapes and also does Portraits on Commission (from photographs). Her aim in all things is to 'do what you do well' - and as you can see by her ratings, she has a long list of happy customers.
