What a stunning find...Up for auction is this beautiful majolica dish. Handpainted earthenware made in Deruta, Italy. The plate displays all the vivid blue, yellow, orange, brown colours that one would expect. This plate was obviously designed for display puporses see photos. Diameter approx. 21cm. No chips or cracks to report which is rather surprising considering it is earthenware. There is however one rough spot on the front of the plate where the glazing has rubbed off, please see photos for description. Some age crazing is also visible see photos. Marked on the back P.M. DERUTA ITALY and the original price tag of what looks like 950 Lira (Italy adopted the Euro in 1999). "Prezzo" means "price" and I assume that the L stands for Lira.
A stunning investment piece to add to your collection.
