On offer is an unrestored Mortice-lock chisel by William Marples and sons. For those of you interested in a collectors piece, it is a fine tool. As a user tool it is in my opinion superior to the classic method of boring and using firmer or bevel-edged chisels to clear the waste. It has a brass ferulle and the blade is cushioned for striking by a leather insert.

Hello and thank you for your question. The width is 5/8 of an inch or nearly 16 mm. The deepest part is just under 1/2 inch or 12 mm. The overall length is 404 mm of which the blade is 239 mm. Kind regards, Jan.
