Across Asia the fight to save tigers is being waged on many fronts. Leading the charge are the intelligence gatherers: three men in three very different countries. Their mission is to understand tigers, and their weapon is science. The challenge these biological detectives face is enormous; over the last century tiger numbers have plummeted by 95%. But despite these horrific statistics, the Wildlife Conservation Society is optimistic that not only can the world's biggest cat be saved from extinction, but that it can thrive. We journey with three conservationists who believe that by understanding how tigers live, what they eat, and what habitats they prefer, we can ensure they remain in our forests. They feed their information back to allied forces working to stamp out poaching, working in partnership to ensure that tigers be allowed to live their secretive, elusive lives in peace. |
