It looks beautifull ! We are also considering slow combustion stoves for space heating. We're situated north of Chartwell. Are interested in this (as it is such a nice feature piece). Not sure how effective it heats though and if it cause some smoke in the room. Would have like to know if it's possible to view. This is a very nice piece and not in abundunce. The black piece is called a crate and is made of castiron. If you search the following web, it gives you clear instructions. www.victorianfires.co.uk/fitting_a_fireplace/index.html When you go to some of the more romantic hotels and restaurants, they use open fireplaces.
