The origin posibly Ceylon, where a lot of the Boer rebels were sent to. The item is all handmade and is still in a reasonably good condition. This type of items were hand-made by the captured boer soldiers, that were exiled to places like Ceylon and St. Helena. For the serious collector, this is one item not to be missed!

Slight damage on one side (illustrated below) , but this does not affect the quality and uniqueness of this lovely item.
