Republic of South African, Police Officers sword

Up for auction is a South African Police Officers sword. Manufactured by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Company, Solingen. The Sword has the Republic of South Africa coat of arms etched on the one side of the blade and the makers mark and SAP etched on the other. Stamped with an issue number 1447. The blade is marked Stainless Steele which was a better quality blade produced for the SAP in comparison to the Plated blade that was produced for the S.A. Army. The sword was issued to all officers below the rank of General. The sword is in great all round condition as can be seen on the pictures with no apparent damage. )Thanks for your question. I can assure you that the hilt is not brass. I think the pictures vary because of where I took the photos, some using the flash and some without. My guess would be that the hilt is nickel or nickel plated? If you need any additional photos, feel free to ask.
