Oblong Quarto. Mustard cloth with gilt titles + gilt device  on front  board. Pictorial endpapers. Near  Fine / Very  Good + xi + 278 pp.incl. Illustrated, full-page monochrome and polychrome. Edges of  dust-jacket  rubbed  with  creases  and  some  small  creases. Spine  of  the  dust-jacket  faded.  "Jalmar and Ione Rudner are well known both inside and outside South Africa for their work in the fields of archaeology and ethnology, having published many papers and articles. ..........Their studies in many remote corners of South Africa, South West Africa, Rhodesia, Angola, Lesotho and Botswana are reflected in this survey of rock art in Southern Africa. During their travels over the past 20 years the Rudners made hundreds of tracings and engravings. Of these they have selected 60 to be reproduced in colour in this book, as well as numerous black and white drawings which appear in the text."
