Although an overseas firm, this bottle is of considerable interest as it is one of the big 16oz Codd bottles, which we don't often encounter here. The bottle is 25cm high and 7cm in diameter at the base. It does not have a maker's name, but is in superb condition, with its rubber washer still in place and a number of attractive air bubbles. Arthur von Possner - a German engineer - left the Colombo Ice Company in Ceylon and founded his own company in 1882, to produce his brand of mineral waters. He participated in trade fairs in Melbourne & Calcutta. |
