Battery life depends largely of the frequency of use. ie: Every 5 mins you are both communicating or oncw or twice a day.
I would advise rechargeable batteries but, I highly recommend the following radio although the price is higher- It is going to last much longer , battery longer and a communication distance of up to 5km if you ever need it:
