From the Boer War, a Queen Victoria and Six Generals Medal. An early Boer War medal produced in about 1900. Unrecorded by Anna Smith or Brian Hern; so I assume that this is a scarce medal. The front has the old-head of Queen Victoria in a circular frame. Arround her are six British Boer War generals, each named below. Clockwise, from the top left: ROBERTS, BULLER, FRENCH, GATACRE, KITCHENER, WHITE. On the back is the British Royal coat of arms. The medal is suspended from an ornate brooch bar with the inscription: "OUR QUEEN AND HEROES". Yellow bronze. Diameter 35.9 mm. Mass with bar 16.7 gm. A little wear. The brooch pin is missing.
