The Detroit Dark red Beet is a classic favorite beet variety that produces 7.5cm deep red beets. Detroit Dark Red is excellent for home garden or commercial scale production because it stores well and is disease resistant. They can be eaten fresh, canned or pickled. Their reddish green leaves also make good-tasting greens. Beets are easy to grow and tolerate a wide range of conditions, but prefer cool weather. Sow every three weeks from early spring till late summer. It takes 59 days to be ready for harvest.
