CUSTOM DAMASCUS BLADE HUNTING/UTILITY KNIFE
True hand forged Damascus steel - Koa wood handle
Damascus steel blades are created by forge welding multiple layers of various steels into a solid block called a billet.
The billet is then folded and re-welded many times to create multiple layers and patterns.
When acid is applied to the blade, it attacks the layers of hard and soft steels differently, highlighting the attractive layered patterns in the steel.
The combination of layered hard and soft steels creates blade flexibility, hardness and durability and produces invisible serrations on the cutting edge that aid in cutting.
The Damascus blade of this knife has been hand forged from 1095 and 15N20 high carbon steels and the cutting edge heat treated.
The ergonomically shaped handle is constructed from Koa wood (Hawaiian Acacia species) with brass pins.
The blade displays a beautiful random pattern and intricate hand file work is visible on the spine just behind the false edge, continuing into the handle.
The spine of the blade also features a filed thumb grip.
The cutting edge of the blade has been sharpened.
