The Fugitives’ Trail Run & Walk 15km (Anglo Zulu War)
25 August 2012
South Africa’s Oldest & Most dramatic footrace
“If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.” Nelson Mandela
Colourful and exciting, the trail follows in the footsteps of the terrified British soldiers who attempted to escape the slaughter on the battlefield at Isandlwana. (The trail traverses terrain that on the 22nd of January 1879, was covered with the bodies of 3000 men)
A meaningful appreciation of our miraculous transformation requires an understanding of our bloody history.
The Fugitives’ Trail conveys participants back in time to a battlefield that witnessed a clash so dramatic that it precipitated the collapse of the greatest empire on earth and triggered a sequence of events that would result in South Africa becoming the moral leader of the World
All finishers receive a commemorative Martini-Henry Slug on a lanyard
