All these wines come from a wine boutique in Stellenbosch ... so the storage conditions were ideal. These wines are perfect to appreciate or to keep as collectors items.
All 50 wines were specially selected from the complete collection (120+ bottles) because they are the top of the range/flagship wines for these farms, some of them have won awards, some of them were limited editions and they generally had a very good ageing potential.
We have opened about 60+ of the other bottles (some entry level, some top of the range). They are perfectly aged. 2012 Platter's Vintage Guide: 1999 (2 bottles): Fat, alcoholic reds with ripe fruit for earlier drinking. Generally not too much excitement among the whites. 2000 (4 bottles): Powerful and concentrated reds, befitting a hot year; the best have kept very well. Whites generally less impressive and not for long ageing. 2001 (1 bottle): Some excellent reds - fruity and concentrated, best are long-lived. Flavourful if alcoholic whites. 2002 (1 bottles): Challenging and patchy; generally individual producers' track record rather than variety or terroir should guide the purchase/cellaring decision.
