1901 ANGLO BOER WAR cover with 2 x PASSED BY CENSOR cachets OPENEND UNDER MARTIAL LAW sticker. Cape to Transvaal. Of special note is the Cape Town Army Post Office date stamp on the reverse (22 October 1901). Superb condition.
Some trivial information: This covered was censored TWICE! There was a war going on! Yet it travelled 1400 km in a couple of days (via train, not aeroplane). Would our beloved post office be able to do the same now (110 years later)?
