Complete set of Larkan trading tokens c1900Reverse of coins being sold - NOTE Coins were commonly holed by indigenous people at that time

The F C Larkan tokens are the only trade tokens issued by a woman in South Africa. They were issued c1900 in East Griqualand.

You can read their entire history by googling - larkan token

There are only about ten complete sets of trading only F C Larkan tokens known and they are in the hands of some of South Africa's most prominent numismatists.

The coins have a strong overlap with the trade tokens of Strachan and Co.
