This is a presentation / collection of medallions, a biography, and Rhodesian and South African Postal Covers, commemorating the centenary of the death, on 8 May 1875, of Southern Africa’s most renowed artist-explorer, Thomas Baines.

Only1100 sets of the four medallions in mint-finish have been produced of which this is one of the 700 sets in bronze, manufactured in Rhodesia.
Each medallion are of a diameter of 36 mm and a thickness of 3 mm and weighs 27 grams (almost the weight of a silver 5-shilling piece or crown)
